State of Disunion is a Webcomic published
Texas, Iowa, and a silent Tennessee
Also Alaska and Maine back there.
This comic is based on Rep. Farenthold (of Texas) saying he would challenge female GOP senators to a duel if they were South Texas men over their vote
The exact quote “if it was a guy from south Texas I might ask him to step outside and settle this Aaron Burr-style.”
This is presumably aimed at female senators Susan Collins of Maine, Shelley Moore Capito of West Virginia, and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska. All three women Republican, and all three are holdouts on the “Repeal and Replace [Obamacare]” act that was shoot down. These three ladies broke GoP ranks and voted against repealing and replacing. So Mr. Farenthold of Corpus Christi commented about . . well shooting them -_-
Where does Iowa come into this you ask?
I AM GLAD YOU ASKED!
Please meet Tumblr user @systlin, who, noting the dueling was still legal in Iowa, offered to stand in for the challenged ladies and meet Senator Farenthold in a duel. As the Challenged party, Systlin gets to choose weapons and has chosen (IIRC) Fisticuffs. Not just joking online, she reached out to his office and formally accepted this challenge to a duel.
This happened back in July As have this comic going up, Senators Coward still has not accepted.
